Equal Opportunities Policy

It is the Policy of Chas D Allflatt Ltd. that all staff has equal opportunity for employment and advancement on the basis of ability, qualifications and suitability for work. There will be no discrimination on grounds of gender, marital status, age, race, colour, disability, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.

Our policy is based upon current UK legislation for equality of opportunity and pay, as well as European Community Law. They ensure the continued relevance and effectiveness of our statement, both the content and implementation are reviewed annually.

The terms and conditions of staff employment are similarly reviewed to ensure that they do not discriminate against any particular group or individual and ‘equal opportunities’ training is provided for all staff as appropriate.

It is important that all staff accept their individual responsibility to put into practice this policy on a daily work basis, ensuring that they do not allow behaviour which may, intentionally or not, discriminate against or cause feelings of harassment in others.

Discrimination also covers actions that amount to abuse and/or harassment. It is defined as unwanted and unreciprocated conduct directed at an individual or group of individuals related to their race, gender, disability, creed, nationality, religion, ethnic origin or other personal characteristic, which affects the dignity of the individual or group. Harassment is not confined to unwanted physical contact or offensive comments but might include suggestive remarks, jokes, bullying, intimidation, banter and victimisation based on race, religion, gender etc.

Discrimination is a serious matter and the consequences of such behaviour will result in disciplinary action.
